Beaten down, twisted and depressed I found that I had to be task oriented to pull myself out of the mush of my own mind, I had to pedal hard and far to give me meaning to attack the road and just keep my ass on the seat, I had to stay pedaling. It was the antidote to negativity going on in my head: positive action!

On the road for weeks I was hot, sleep deprived and malnourished but overfed. With too much exercise and too much sun I couldn’t make any sense of myself. I had problems with a friend, I was spending too much money, and I didn’t want to go on any longer.

But I had burned the boats, I no longer had a life in San Diego to go back to. My money seemed to be sucked up by an endless appetite, and endless flat tires, having spent thousands on food and I was only halfway through my trip. I glimpsed the bottom and found a perspective shift to light the path ahead to give myself and my trip meaning bringing peace and purpose back into the world around me.

‘Hungry For Miles’ Is the journey to live free; to set out and find the determination and the endless amounts of focus and durability needed to be a human. It’s about loosing friends and finding the world welcoming with arms open wide. And the staggering amount of generosity of the people I met along the way.

Get behind the scenes and down with the nitty-gritty of a bicycle tour across the Southern Tier of the United States and capture the life lessons I’ve learned from the comfort of your couch not having to bike day and night and spend thousands of dollars to get them.

If you have ever heard about long distance bike riding this book is a MUST read for you because it is the TRUTH of endurance athletes and Adventure Vacations. It’s super fun and super hard and they go hand in hand.

Biking is how I have lived and got to work for the past years and this is the ultimate expression of both biking and travelling. I have learned many lessons from the bike, like how to regulate my body and bike even if I’m not in the mood, how to save money, and how to not drink as much because of the reality of having to bike anywhere I wanted to go.

The bicycle has been the key to a solid quality of life for the past ten years. From biking around the streets of San Diego, Barcelona, London, Portland and now Austin, I have have created beautiful rhythms of life in every city I have lived in using my bicycle.

And to show you that its possible for anyone to bike a measly ten miles to work I will prove day in and day out that its possible to consistently ride hundreds of miles weekly. I totally overdo it just to show you how if you are anywhere close to healthy you can bike commute to your job too, and save LOADS OF MONEY!!! on car expenses like gas, insurance, car cost, and repairs.

And what if I told you that you would save TIME too, with no parking hassle, especially if your like me and live in a metropolitan area. You can date on a bicycle as well as I will demonstrate many times in this book there is no need for a car to get laid, for you lonely fellows who think your status depends on a car.

Biking is not for everybody, but it’s more viable than people think. If you take an hour a day to go to a gym and go to a cycle class what about taking an hour a day and bike commute to school or work, you’ll surely enjoy it more than the gym! The sights are better!
